NEW: Reading to Indigo's Class

Reading to his daughter's class is a little more difficult for Nico Smith. He's currently deployed in Afghanistan with the National Guard. Thanks to the wonders of the technology and the staff at West Suburban Temple Har Zion, Indigo and her class listened to him read "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed," her favorite book.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

Our Reggio inspired NAEYC and Kehillah accredited early childhood program values the relationships we form between the teachers, families and children we serve.  Following the children’s interests, teachers create opportunities that provoke thinking and support the development of cognitive, physical and social-emotional skills through process oriented learning. Our goal is to provide optimum experiences that instill a lifetime love of learning and Jewish tradition..

BEAUTIFUL BEGINNINGS (infants)

For infants 6 weeks to 8 months: This group offers opportunities to share stories, learn new tips and make friends in a clean and comfortable environment. Activities are introduced each week to explore nurturing ways to interact with your baby.

Thursdays: 9:00 – 9:45am

For infants 8 months to 15 months: Enjoy an active circle time with upright activities to enhance your baby’s abilities, as well as singing, infant sign and stories.

Thursdays: 10:15 – 11:00am

TEMPLE TOTS PROGRAM (15 to 24 months with parent or caregiver)

Temple Tots brings children and adults together for songs, stories and engaging activities.

Fridays: 10:00 – 11:00am

2 YEAR OLD PROGRAM (Children must be 2 by September 1st)

This play-based program introduces two year-olds to a school setting with a welcoming and engaging environment rich in appropriate learning materials. Teachers create opportunities for children to explore in a setting that has been established to encourage social development. Within this fun, hands-on approach to learning, a love of Jewish tradition and culture is developed.

Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 – 11:00am

PRESCHOOL (3-5 years/children must be 3 by September 1st)

In the mixed-aged classroom children's’ interests, questions and discussions are the guiding factors used to plan the curriculum. As they engage in topics that interest them, children learn to work together collaboratively and respectfully. The teachers encourage children to work through their challenges, build upon their strengths, and find answers to their questions while integrating Jewish culture and traditions. Children must be 3 by September 1st.

Monday through Friday: 8:30 – 11:00am

ENRICHMENT CLASSES (Child must be 3)

The opportunity to extend your child’s learning continues as they take part in our engaging hands-on enrichment programs. Classes such as Hebrew, cooking, science and art will be offered each semester. While eating lunch with their peers, (dairy or pareve meal from home) children gain social skills and gain a sense of community.

Monday through Thursday: 11:00 – 11:30am lunch, 11:30 – 12:30pm enrichment

CAMP ZION (2-5 years)

Our number one priority at Camp Zion is to provide a safe and fun environment where campers can learn, grow and make friends. The “Theme of the Week” complements our regular camp activities and ends on Friday as we celebrate Shabbat with a Twist!

Gadol (3 to 5 years old): Monday through Friday, 9:30-12:00pm
K’ton ton (must be 2 to start camp): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9:30-12:00pm
