Our Commitment

Our Mission

West Suburban Temple Har Zion is a progressive, egalitarian, Conservative congregation that welcomes all individuals and families to our warm, nurturing Jewish community.

• We are evolving, dynamic, and thriving.
• We value education, diversity, and social action.
• We serve the needs of all individuals and their families.
• We celebrate Jewish holidays, rituals, and life-cycle events.

Our Vision

To be a vibrant inclusive Jewish community that shares simchas, friendship, and life events through worship, learning, and celebration.

Learning

Our educational programs are first-class, with an early childhood education center onsite, one of the finest fully inclusive religious schools in western suburbs, and a robust adult education program. Our goal is to provide for a lifetime of Jewish learning. We also host a sizable library, wherein our members may check out materials at no charge.

Interfaith

We welcome interfaith families and respect their journeys. Interfaith families are engaged and participate in all areas of synagogue life. Children of interfaith families are welcome in our preschool and religious school.

Following Conservative Jewish law, children of a non-Jewish mother must undergo a ritual conversion before their b’nai mitzvah. Our clergy will ensure that your child has a beautiful and meaningful conversion experience that fits where they are in their Jewish journey. For more questions, please address Rabbi Glick.

At b’nai mitzvah celebrations, non-Jewish spouses are welcome on the bima and encouraged to participate in select areas of the service where they feel comfortable

Prayer & Worship

We offer a dynamic blend of worship opportunities that span from the small and intimate to grand classical services incorporating music led by our Grammy-nominated cantor, Stewart Figa. Our main sanctuary, constructed in the 1950s, provides a truly awe-inspiring space in which to practice Jewish ritual life.

We welcome the opportunity to make Temple Har Zion your Jewish home!
