Refugee Shabbat and Dinner

Please join us on Friday, February 3, for a Kabbalat Shabbat service and dinner to honor refugee families and those who work to shelter them.

Har Zion member Michael Zmora will tell us about the Afghan family he has helped bring to Chicago, a family that many Har Zion preschool families and members have also supported. Also Marc Schulman, CEO of Eli’s Cheesecake, talk about his company’s practice of employing Afghan refugees.

Come hear their stories at services and afterwards join us for a Shabbat dinner, sponsored by the Social Action Committee. Eli’s Cheesecake is generously donating cheesecakes for dessert! Thank you, Eli’s!

Please register if you are planning on attending the dinner by 1/31We would like this to be an inclusive evening. Please let us know if you are unable to afford dinner.

We will be honoring local congregations and organizations doing this important work!

Donations to support this event or to support our refugee family are welcome (but not required).
